The Kleinmond-Palmiet area features many scenic trails which are not managed by CapeNature, but by the Overstrand Municipality and volunteer organisations. Many of them originate from the vicinity of the Fairy Glen picnic site near the Palmiet River bridge. This shortish 5 km walk provides a lot of variation and scenic views for relatively little effort. It starts at Fairy Glen, passes the Palmiet rockpools and then snakes up a gulley, revealing diverse views of the Palmiet as it rises about 250m. The path then crosses a plateau to Kasteelkopnek before descending back to Fairy Glen. From the nek various alternative routes radiate out. The municipality should manage the area more diligently because we found evidence of porcupine trapping and quite a bit of litter.
