28-29 April 2006: Deon and I decided to paddle on the Gamkaspoort Dam near Prince Albert. Great fun – but we later found out you actually require permission from the waterfiskaal to do this…
- The jump-off point on the Gamka (‘lion’) leg of Gamkaspoort dam.
- The next morning the advanced cavalry of a nasty black south-easter was marching through the poort.
- It blew us down the Dwyka (‘lioness’) leg.
- Rock formations on the Dwyka.
- Self-portrait of the intrepid paddlers….
- Dwyka. While drifting down the far bank I saw my first otter in the wild. Surprised by our silent approach it cartwheeled headlong into the water.
